The recent visit to Rabat by the British Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant, has marked a significant turning point in the bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Morocco. This diplomatic engagement underscores a shared commitment to developing a robust strategic partnership between the two kingdoms.
London now identifies Morocco as a prime destination for economic expansion and intends to double the current volume of bilateral trade within the next five to seven years. This ambitious goal was highlighted by Chris Bryant during his official mission to the Moroccan capital.
Following a high-level meeting with Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Bryant pointed out that trade between the United Kingdom and Morocco currently reaches approximately £4.5 billion. He expressed a firm desire to see these figures double in the medium term, reflecting the growing economic synergy between the two nations.
The British Minister of State also emphasized the United Kingdom’s eagerness to collaborate with Morocco on major international projects. A primary focus of this cooperation is the 2030 World Cup, where British expertise in organizing global sporting events is expected to play a key role. To facilitate this, Bryant is accompanied by a delegation of fifty British companies specializing in large-scale event management and infrastructure.
This commercial and diplomatic push is being showcased at the Morocco-UK Business Forum, held on June 2 and 3, 2026. This event serves as a platform for businesses from both sides to explore new avenues for investment and cooperation.
Furthermore, the two nations are scheduled to convene for the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council, an institutional framework designed to further solidify their growing economic and political ties.
