Gabon’s RPM party praises Oligui Nguema’s leadership and demands action on promises

The Rally for the Homeland and Modernity (RPM), a key member of Gabon’s ruling coalition, has officially commended President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his dedicated public service between August 9 and August 30. The tribute came in an official statement signed by party spokesperson Étienne Francky Meba Ondo.

Titled “From action to results,” the communiqué applauded the administration’s new health sector initiatives, highlighting its tangible achievements, the president’s consistent field presence, and its commitment to regional development.

Health sector boost and regional investments

On August 30 in Makokou, the government announced a 55 billion CFA franc allocation to strengthen healthcare, including:

• 44 billion CFA for upgrading national medical infrastructure
• 6 billion CFA to reopen cafeterias in public hospitals
• 5 billion CFA to enhance services under the National Health and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS)

The RPM described these measures as direct responses to citizens’ most pressing needs and urged swift, full implementation of all commitments.

The party also pointed to the inauguration of multiple sanitation, commerce, administrative, and defense projects across Greater Libreville. In Ogooué-Ivindo Province, 17 major development initiatives were launched during late-August Liberation Day festivities in Makokou. Among them was the Mayiga residential housing project, with 50 units completed, 25 under construction, and plans for 500 serviced plots to expand development beyond the capital.

Call for accountability and national unity

In marking Gabon’s 66th Independence Day and the third anniversary of the “Liberation” coup, the RPM echoed President Oligui Nguema’s call: “The time for promises must give way to proof of delivery.” The party emphasized that real success lies in measurable improvements to daily life for Gabon’s citizens.

Additionally, the RPM welcomed the state visit of Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.

The RPM urged the government to sustain this momentum, prioritizing:

• Speedy execution of all projects
• Long-term functionality of new infrastructure
• Programs to boost youth employment
• Efforts fostering national unity and modernization

The RPM, led by Vice President Alexandre Barro Chambrier, remains a key ally of President Oligui Nguema’s coalition formed during the April 12, 2025 presidential election, while maintaining its political independence. The party holds three seats in the National Assembly.
