Minister Diouf’s claims spark fierce response from Pastef leader

Khady Diène Gaye, a prominent figure in the Pastef movement, has strongly rejected statements made by Abdourahmane Diouf regarding Ousmane Sonko’s alleged stance on debt restructuring. The former minister, who previously served alongside Diouf in government, expressed her utter disbelief upon hearing the minister claim Sonko had approved such an option.

In a scathing rebuttal, Gaye accused Diouf of spreading outright falsehoods. She opened her attack with a blunt remark: “Everywhere Dramane fails! Now comes the grotesque lies!” The intensity of her reaction reflects her shock at Diouf’s allegations about Sonko’s involvement in debt restructuring discussions.

A personal and political assault

Gaye didn’t stop at refuting the factual claims—she also took aim at Diouf’s own background. She alleged that he had “failed repeatedly in every endeavor to return to public service,” even going so far as to suggest he had unsuccessfully attempted the bar exam between 2007 and 2008. These personal jabs amplified the sharpness of her critique.

Beyond the personal attacks, Gaye criticized Diouf’s political motivations, accusing him of prioritizing self-interest over the public good. She argued that he had “chosen politics to serve himself rather than serving others.” In closing, she urged activists to remain focused on Pastef’s political project, calling on “patriots from all walks of life” to stay committed to building a “sovereign, prosperous, and just” Senegal.
