High-level Morocco-France talks kick off in Rabat

Morocco and France advance strategic partnership in Rabat talks

The governments of Morocco and France have launched the fifteenth high-level meeting in Rabat, bringing together senior officials to reinforce bilateral ties.

This session reflects the exceptional and strengthened partnership between the two nations, with leadership from King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron. The gathering underscores their commitment to deepening collaboration across multiple sectors, as outlined in an official announcement.

During discussions, Philippe Lalliot, the French ambassador to Morocco, highlighted the tangible progress in Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune, where recent initiatives—including the inauguration of a new Alliance Française—demonstrate ongoing joint efforts. He was joined by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco‘s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports.

The ambassador emphasized the breadth of the bilateral relationship, pointing to France‘s recognition in a 2024 letter from President Macron to King Mohammed VI. That letter affirmed that France views the Sahara issue within the framework of Morocco‘s sovereignty.

He also noted France‘s status as the leading foreign investor and employer in Morocco, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial development over the past decade.

Looking ahead, Lalliot outlined three key priorities for the partnership: addressing global challenges through shared solutions to enhance collective security, strengthening economic sectors critical to future growth, and fostering deeper cultural ties—particularly among the youth who represent the future of Franco-Moroccan relations.
