High-level moroccan military delegation wraps up productive Mauritania visit

Top Moroccan military officials concluded a significant working visit to Mauritania this week, reinforcing defense ties between the two nations. Led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, the delegation met with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott. The meeting took place in the presence of Ambassador Hamid Chabar of Morocco.

During the same day, General Berrid visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he received the National Order of Merit (Commander grade) on behalf of the Moroccan leadership. The honor was presented by Minister of Defense Hanana Ould Sidi in a ceremony witnessed by senior officials.

Later, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Discussions centered on strengthening defense cooperation, with both sides acknowledging the tangible progress achieved through their strategic partnership.
