In a landmark aviation event, Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), officially launched its direct service connecting Casablanca with Los Angeles this Sunday. This groundbreaking route represents the very first non-stop air link between the African continent and the United States’ Pacific coast, marking a significant advancement in global connectivity.

The inaugural flight embarked from Mohammed V Airport at 04:00, commencing its uninterrupted 12-hour journey to Los Angeles.

This new direct flight coincides with two notable occasions: the celebration of two and a half centuries of enduring friendship between Morocco and the United States, and the kick-off of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco’s national team, the Atlas Lions, are set to compete.

Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, emphasized the importance of this new route. “The inauguration of this line is a historic milestone for Royal Air Maroc and for Africa’s air connectivity,” he stated. “By bringing Morocco closer to the American West Coast, we reaffirm our pivotal role and our commitment to elevating Morocco’s presence on the international stage.”

+ Three weekly frequencies to boost the Casablanca hub +

The new Casablanca Los Angeles direct flight will operate three times a week, utilizing state-of-the-art wide-body aircraft on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Departures from Casablanca are scheduled for 04:00, arriving in Los Angeles at 08:20 local time. Return flights will depart California at 10:20, landing back in Casablanca the following day at 05:25.

This expansion is an integral part of the national airline’s development strategy, established through an agreement with the government in July 2023. Its primary objective is to solidify Casablanca’s position as a premier aviation hub, linking Africa, Europe, and the Americas, while simultaneously catering to the strong demand from the Moroccan diaspora, tourists, business travelers, and football enthusiasts.

With this latest launch, Royal Air Maroc reinforces its strong foothold in North America, complementing its existing direct services to New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto.
