Nasser Bourita strengthens strategic ties with Bahrain and Jordan in Amman

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held intensive diplomatic talks in Amman with his counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan. These meetings, which took place on the sidelines of the Arab League summit, helped consolidate bilateral alliances and tackle the security challenges currently affecting the region.

Alliance and stability alongside Bahrain

During his meeting with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, discussions focused on coordinating efforts to guarantee peace and stability in the Arab world. The two diplomats reviewed the deep historic relations linking Rabat and Manama, exploring new avenues for cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, following the guidelines set by Morocco’s Foreign Ministry.

Attending the working session were Morocco’s ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, the kingdom’s permanent representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali, and the director of Maghreb Affairs at the ministry, Khalid Bencheikh.

Upcoming Joint Commission with Jordan

Bourita also met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. The central topic of their conversation was the preparation of the sixth session of the Moroccan-Jordanian High Joint Commission, coordinated by Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and scheduled for the end of this year. Both ministers agreed on the need to design an ambitious agenda to elevate the bilateral relationship to a higher strategic level.

Activity within the Arab League

These bilateral meetings followed Bourita’s participation in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the sessions of the 165th regular period of the Arab League Council, consolidating Morocco’s active role in the region’s multilateral dialogue.
