Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno has declared a steadfast commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating on May 5th through his Facebook account, “We will continue this struggle with renewed determination until this threat is completely eliminated.” This resolute declaration followed a brutal assault that occurred just the day prior. An offshoot of the armed Islamist group Boko Haram launched an attack on the Barka Tolorom military base, located on the Chadian shore of Lake Chad, tragically claiming the lives of 24 soldiers.
