André Noël Essian officially installs over 20 senior officials at Cameroon national assembly

Secretary general André Noël Essian has formally installed more than 20 top-ranking officials at Cameroon’s national assembly, all appointed by speaker Théodore Datouo.

Following the opening of the second regular session of the 2026 legislative year, secretary general André Noël Essian led the installation ceremony for over 20 senior managers nominated by speaker Théodore Datouo.

These high-level executives were promoted to positions within the questure and the office of the secretary general of the national assembly. With this ceremony, they officially assume their duties at the heart of the country’s representative body.

Since his election as speaker of the national assembly in March, deputy Théodore Datouo has made numerous appointments. However, these decisions have not been universally welcomed by the public. Critics accuse the successor of Cavaye Yeguié Djibril of failing to respect regional balance in his choices.
