United nations peace talks strengthen Morocco Colombia ties

In a significant move toward global peace efforts, Morocco and Colombia have reaffirmed their dedication to fostering stronger collaboration between the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission and the Security Council. The mutual pledge underscores their shared commitment to prioritizing peace as a cornerstone of international stability.

During a courtesy visit in New York, Omar Hilale, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and current Chair of the UN Peacebuilding Commission, welcomed Leonor Zalabata Torres, Colombia’s Ambassador to the UN and President of the Security Council for June 2026. The meeting highlighted the importance of diplomatic engagement in advancing collective security goals.
