At a gathering in Touba, PASTEF leader Ousmane Sonko announced his party’s readiness to deploy a motion of no confidence against the government led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. Opposition escalates pressure on government

During the two-day PASTEF event in Touba, Ousmane Sonko made clear his party’s willingness to file a motion of no confidence if current government practices persist. Speaking to party supporters, he emphasized that PASTEF would not tolerate what it views as unconstitutional or unethical governance.

« We will exhaust every legal avenue at our disposal, including motions of no confidence, to remove this government—repeatedly if necessary, » Sonko declared. His remarks underscored a hardening stance against what he described as a betrayal of the principles for which party members have fought for a decade, including personal sacrifices and martyrdom.

« We have fought for ten years with martyrs and sacrifices. We will not allow these practices to take root, » he asserted, positioning the parliamentary motion as a key instrument in PASTEF’s political arsenal. Sonko framed the move as a legitimate response to government decisions he opposes, signaling his party’s readiness to act whenever it deems necessary.
