New details have emerged regarding the terrorist assault that targeted a military installation within Niamey’s Diori Hamani International Airport on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Following extensive clearing operations lasting several hours, the Nigerien army released its official assessment of the incident. The attack, claimed by the Al-Qaïda-affiliated Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), was successfully repelled by local Defense and Security Forces after more than two hours of intense combat.
