Rabat recently hosted a special commemorative event, celebrating 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Morocco and Vietnam. The Embassy of Vietnam in the Kingdom, in collaboration with the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters and Former Members of the Liberation Army, orchestrated the Friday gathering.
A highlight of the commemoration was the unveiling of a captivating exhibition titled “President Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of Peace and International Friendship.” This display, set to run until June 26, meticulously chronicles the remarkable journey of Vietnam’s national liberation hero, whose endeavors were consistently guided by principles of peace, independence, and global cooperation.
Further enriching the day’s agenda, a seminar was convened to explore promising avenues for bolstering bilateral cooperation across diplomatic, economic, academic, cultural, and human spheres. This significant event was jointly organized with the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site, an institution affiliated with Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
During his opening remarks, Mustapha El Ktiri, the High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Former Members of the Liberation Army, underscored the profound historical and strategic importance of the relationship binding Morocco and Vietnam. He emphasized that the celebration symbolizes a convergence of two nations whose historical paths, forged through adversity and driven by a shared yearning for freedom, coalesce in a unity of values and destiny.
Mr. El Ktiri, who also presides over the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association, evoked poignant symbols of their shared heritage. He notably recalled the inauguration in 2022 of the “Gate of Vietnam” in Kénitra, a monument designed to mirror Vietnam’s “Gate of Morocco” in Bà Vi, thereby creating twin structures that bridge continents and generations.
Her Excellency Le Kim Quy, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Morocco, commended the tangible and positive progression of bilateral relations. She highlighted the increased frequency of high-level meetings and reciprocal visits in recent years, which she noted as clear indicators of mutual trust and a collective resolve to strengthen this strategic partnership.
The economic dimension has also seen remarkable growth, with bilateral trade volumes reaching an impressive 390 million dollars in 2025, as stated by the Vietnamese diplomat. This beneficial momentum, she added, is equally evident in education, cultural and human exchanges, and decentralized cooperation between local authorities in both countries.
The celebratory day concluded with the inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh Library. This new resource houses a collection of works in French, English, and Arabic, generously donated to the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters and Former Members of the Liberation Army by the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site.
