FC Nantes handed one-match stadium ban after fan pitch invasion against Toulouse
The French Football League’s disciplinary committee has imposed a one-match stadium ban on FC Nantes following fan disturbances during the final Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse.
FC Nantes has avoided point deductions for the start of their Ligue 2 campaign. The disciplinary body of France’s top football league handed down a one-match closed-door sanction for the match at Stade de la Beaujoire, along with a two-match closure of the Loire stand. The committee also confirmed the 0-0 score at the time of the definitive match abandonment against Toulouse on May 17.
Before the final whistle of the 34th and last Ligue 1 matchday, Nantes supporters invaded the pitch, creating disturbances to protest the club’s relegation to Ligue 2. The referee had to halt the game as a result of the incidents.
