Mali Regains Upper Hand in Fight Against Militant Groups

The Malian Armed Forces Have Taken the Initiative

The Malian army has claimed to have regained the upper hand in its fight against militant groups in the north and center of the country.

According to a statement from the FAMA, the fighting resumed on Sunday at Anifif, about 110 kilometers south of Kidal, after the arrival of reinforcements of troops and equipment for the Front de libération de l’Azawad.

The Malian army has reaffirmed its confidence in the ability of the Armed Forces to defend national unity, protect civilians, and defeat enemy forces.

However, the leader of the Front de libération de l’Azawad, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, denied reports of the death of his boss Mbarek Ag Akli, saying he was still leading military operations in the north of the country.
