The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared a significant shift in momentum, asserting full operational control over regions previously contested by armed factions in the North and Central-Southern zones of the country.
In a formal statement, military officials confirmed that intense combat operations resumed on Sunday at Anifif, situated in the northeastern sector roughly 110 kilometers south of Kidal. The engagement followed a surge in reinforcements dispatched to bolster the Front de Libération de l’Azawad (FLA).
According to the official release, Malian troops engaged with unwavering resolve, sustaining operations throughout the day with precision and tactical discipline. The statement underscored an unshaken confidence in the FAMA’s ability to safeguard national sovereignty, protect civilian populations, and decisively neutralize hostile forces.
The military’s announcement comes amid competing claims from the FLA, whose spokesperson, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, had earlier asserted control over the Anifif area following renewed hostilities.
In a counter-statement, the FLA denied reports of its leader, Mbarek Ag Akli, being killed in action, affirming his continued command over field operations across northern Mali.
