The battle for information dominance in Africa between France and Russia has escalated into a direct confrontation. Sparked by Moscow’s 2018 intervention in the Central African Republic, this hybrid warfare strategy aims to erode France’s historical influence across the continent by manipulating public opinion in its favor. Paris, which only recently recognized this long-running Russian tactic—used since at least 2014 in other conflict zones—has begun countering Moscow’s moves with equal force.
