The director general of Gabon Poste, Alfred Ikaka Bobe, announced on Tuesday that his administration has made available a new application for postal savers whose funds remain frozen, allowing them to check their names on the official lists compiled by the liquidator.
To verify their name, users can access the online platform from a computer or smartphone. The service was launched on Monday and quickly saw around 10,000 visits within a few hours, leading to temporary saturation.
“The application has been updated and will be fully operational from Wednesday,” Mr. Bobe confirmed.
Savers are asked to confirm that they are still alive and can also indicate the location where they wish to receive their payment. The platform is also accessible to savers living abroad.
Only those savers who have been properly registered by the liquidator and who unfortunately lost their savings book are asked to visit a post office to obtain a new booklet.
It is worth recalling that in 2017, PostBank SA, a subsidiary of Gabon Poste, went bankrupt, freezing the savings of thousands of people. After numerous unfulfilled promises from the former regime of Ali Bongo Ondimba, the transitional government expressed its determination in February 2025 to settle this debt.
Approximately 60,000 savers are affected. A total of 31.212 billion CFA francs has been pledged to clear the debt over three years, with disbursements made in equal annual installments.
