Abidjan — One hundred and fifty soldiers, clad in camouflage fatigues and tactical gear, marched in unison, rifles in hand, their faces concealed by masks and headgear. Leading the formation was a coordinator, proudly holding the red, yellow, and green flag of Guinea, with snipers positioned strategically behind. The rhythmic beat of the Pas de Caméléon echoed as the elite unit made its way through the parade grounds.
The Guinean special forces stole the show during the closing segment of the foreign contingents’ parade at the 66th Independence Day celebrations of Côte d’Ivoire. The crowd erupted in thunderous applause, rising to their feet and saluting as the unit marched past the grandstand.
Videos and images of the spectacle quickly spread across television broadcasts and social media platforms, with viewers, journalists, and influencers alike praising the Guinean detachment’s flawless execution.
Deloy Dadié, an Ivorian spectator, shared his admiration: “I’m Ivorian, but for me, this was the best parade. I couldn’t stop watching—calmly, I even downloaded the video. Thank you, Guinea.”
Brice Kouadio echoed the sentiment: “This year’s highlight for me? Imposing, powerful, fierce, and elegant—unmatched.”
