Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara expressed strong satisfaction following the conclusion of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2026-2030 financing roundtable in Abidjan. The event, which concluded on July 9, 2026, brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 countries, signaling robust international confidence in the country’s economic trajectory.
Unprecedented financial mobilization
The two-day deliberations yielded commitments totaling $80 billion (47,820 billion F CFA), far exceeding the initial target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA. This historic mobilization, representing nearly four times the sought-after amount, underscores the attractiveness of Côte d’Ivoire’s economic fundamentals and strategic vision.
The NDP 2026-2030, with a total investment envelope of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately $209 billion), aims to propel the nation into the upper-middle-income bracket by 2030. This ambitious agenda prioritizes private sector-led growth, allocating 70.2% of investments to the private industry, which President Ouattara emphasized as the cornerstone of socioeconomic transformation.
Six pillars for national advancement
The development strategy is structured around six key priorities:
- Peace, security, and stability – ensuring a conducive environment for progress;
- Agriculture and agro-industry – leveraging Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural potential;
- Private sector development and industrialization – driving job creation and innovation;
- Human capital enhancement – investing in education and health;
- Strategic infrastructure – modernizing transport, energy, and digital networks;
- Good governance and state modernization – strengthening institutional efficiency.
Macroeconomic targets and societal impact
To achieve these goals, the government has set ambitious macroeconomic benchmarks: a GDP per capita of $4,500 and a poverty rate below 20% by 2030. Achieving these milestones will require collective effort, with public investment playing a catalytic role in unlocking private sector contributions.
In his closing remarks, President Ouattara underscored the government’s commitment to translating financial pledges into tangible outcomes. He highlighted the need for expanded access to schools, healthcare, roads, employment, and shared prosperity across all regions of the country. His vision rests on unity, determination, and unwavering confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s future.
« Together, with trust, resolve, and solidarity, we will build a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and inclusive. »
