Trevoh Chalobah is edging closer to leaving Stamford Bridge for Serie A this summer, with the race for his signature heating up in Italy. The Chelsea academy graduate, currently with England at the World Cup, has become a top target for both reigning Italian champions Inter Milan and ambitious newly promoted Como, who have already tabled an initial bid.
Como submit official offer for Chalobah
Como, coached by former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, have made an official approach for the defender. The Serie A side, who surprisingly qualified for the Champions League, see Chalobah as a key piece to lead their European campaign. Although the exact fee remains undisclosed, Chelsea are open to offers for the 26-year-old, a product of their Cobham academy.
Chalobah started 47 matches across all competitions last season, scoring three Premier League goals, but could be sold to fund defensive reinforcements. Under contract until 2028, Chelsea hold a strong negotiating position.
Inter Milan monitoring the situation
Inter, fresh off winning the Serie A title, are closely tracking the centre-back. Manager Cristian Chivu views Chalobah as an ideal addition to his backline, given his Premier League experience and versatility. If a bidding war erupts, Chelsea could cash in handsomely on their homegrown talent.
For Chalobah, the prospect of Champions League football is a major draw, especially as Chelsea finished a disappointing 10th and will miss out on European competition next season.
Tuchel’s faith and England call-up
Despite his uncertain club future, Chalobah remains highly regarded by England manager Thomas Tuchel. The former Chelsea boss called him up to the World Cup squad as a late replacement for injured Tino Livramento, preferring him over Manchester United veteran Harry Maguire. However, Chalobah has yet to feature in England’s first two matches and has only one cap overall.
Chelsea’s summer defensive overhaul
Letting Chalobah go is part of a broader defensive rebuild under new manager Xabi Alonso. Chelsea are already targeting replacements, with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Como’s Jacobo Ramon on their shortlist. The club also completed a £51 million move for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra to revamp a defence that struggled last season.
On the flanks, the search for a new left-back intensified after Marc Cucurella’s high-profile departure to Real Madrid. Leeds United’s Gabriel Gudmundsson is now on the Blues’ radar. With Chalobah likely to leave, the turnover at Stamford Bridge shows no signs of slowing this summer.
