Drc rewards enarques for mining sector proposals

Cérémonie de remise du prix Buanya

The Ministry of Mines held a ceremony on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 at the Pullman Grand Hotel in Kinshasa to award prizes for the official “Buanya” excellence competition. The competition was launched by Mines Minister Louis Watum Kabamba to engage graduates from the National School of Administration (ENA) on strategic issues in the Congolese mining sector.

The event was attended by the Secretary General for Mines, heads of subordinate agencies, jury members, participating enarques, and several guests. The highlight was the announcement of results and the presentation of prizes to the winning teams.

Over several weeks, 48 enarques divided into six teams carried out in-depth research and analysis on key mining topics: mining governance, transparency and resource traceability, anti-fraud efforts, regulation of artisanal mining, geological exploration, equitable redistribution of sector benefits, and development of new mining projects.

Minister Kabamba emphasised that the Democratic Republic of Congo holds a central position in the global energy transition. This strategic role, he said, carries the responsibility of transforming the country’s mineral resources into genuine drivers of development, generating jobs, modern infrastructure, and quality social services.

He encouraged the winners to remain ambassadors of excellence, integrity, and change, reiterating that future mining governance must be founded on meritocracy, innovation, transparency, and accountability.

This initiative is part of the vision of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, implemented under the coordination of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka, placing human capital development and good governance at the heart of public action.

The ceremony closed in a convivial atmosphere with a group photo, marking the end of an enriching experience and paving the way for greater involvement of administrative youth in transforming the Congolese mining sector.
