As of 20 June 2026, the most notable progress on the project is the near-completion of the bridge supports. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are pushing hard to finish the structure.
Beyond that, additional geotechnical studies are underway, while detailed design work is 60% complete. All 20 piles have been finished, and work has begun on the access road on the Bissombo side, including reinforcement of the culvert wing walls at PK 0+669, placement of replacement material after excavation at the culvert at PK 0+818, and crushing of 0/250 aggregate.
The project involves building a 90-metre-long bridge and 3 kilometres of access roads. Once finished, it will help structure the Assok-to-Ngombo corridor in the Dja-et-Lobo department of the southern region. The total cost is estimated at 10,530,686,344 FCFA including tax for the Dja bridge.
In addition to the bridge, the access roads will be developed over 1,000 metres — 500 metres on each side — with a two-lane carriageway 7 metres wide and 1.5-metre shoulders surfaced with a double-layer surface dressing. The project also includes drainage structures: two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 1.50, two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 2.00, and construction of access embankments on the riverbanks.
