Boko Haram resurgence in Lake Chad region sparks fresh military response

Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno issued a stark warning following a devastating attack. In a statement released via Facebook, he declared, « We will intensify our efforts with unwavering resolve to completely eliminate this threat ». The remarks came in response to a brutal assault carried out by a Boko Haram splinter faction the day prior at the Barka Tolorom military base, situated along the Chadian shoreline of Lake Chad. The assault claimed 24 soldiers’ lives, leaving the nation in shock.
