The transition was formalized at the Palais de la République (La Marina) in Cotonou, where Wadagni took the oath of office before the Constitutional Court. The event was attended by key political figures from Benin and delegations from more than a dozen foreign countries.
Following the swearing-in, Wadagni accompanied Talon to his vehicle, symbolizing the peaceful handover of power. Earlier, the two leaders held a private meeting to discuss the transition process.
In his oath, Wadagni pledged to uphold and defend the Constitution and accepted legal consequences for any breach of that promise.
The ceremony reflected the solemnity of the occasion, with dignitaries present to witness the historic moment.
