Ben Old is doubtful for AS Saint-Étienne’s Ligue 1 playoff first leg against Nice after suffering a hamstring injury in the play-offs against Rodez. Meanwhile, Florian Tardieu is back from a calf injury and fully available for Tuesday’s clash at Geoffroy-Guichard.
Ten days after securing promotion to Ligue 1 via a dramatic 7-6 penalty shootout win over Rodez, AS Saint-Étienne prepares to face OGC Nice in the Ligue 1 playoffs. On Monday noon, head coach Philippe Montanier provided an update on his squad’s fitness ahead of the first leg on Tuesday at Geoffroy-Guichard.
Ben Old, the New Zealand international left-back, remains a major doubt due to a hamstring strain sustained in the play-off victory. A final fitness test will be conducted Tuesday morning before a definitive decision is made.
Florian Tardieu, the experienced midfielder, returns to action after missing several weeks with a calf injury. His availability provides a significant boost for the Greens.
Djylian N’Guessan, another attacking player, is ruled out after aggravating his hamstring strain.
The status of several international players remains uncertain. Montanier confirmed ongoing discussions regarding the availability of Ben Old (New Zealand), Augustine Boakye, and Ebenezer Annan (Ghana) ahead of the match.
