Annual OHADA academic session and moot court competition in Niamey, May 2026
The Club OHADA at Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey is proud to announce a landmark academic event: a solemn opening session paired with the 8th edition of the OHADA Moot Court Competition. Scheduled for May 22–23, 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00, this gathering will take place in Niamey, Niger.
Under the theme «OHADA: Past, Present, and Future!», the session will foster deep reflection on the evolution, relevance, and future trajectory of OHADA law. It will also serve as a vibrant platform for promoting legal eloquence and enriching doctrinal debate on the modernization of African business law.
Competition themes and structure
This year’s moot court competition features two compelling legal questions designed to challenge participants and spark critical discussion:
- Eliminatory phase: «Should the business law framework under OHADA be redefined?»
- Final round: «Is OHADA law a matter of business law or economic activity law?»
These topics reflect ongoing debates about expanding the scope of OHADA’s material field and aligning uniform law with Africa’s rapidly changing economic landscape.

Top performers in the competition will be honored with valuable prizes:
- A professional internship opportunity
- A new laptop
- A ceremonial trophy
