N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious five-year strategy (2026-2030) designed to uplift the lives of 3.29 million children across the country, with a special focus on 3.09 million of the most vulnerable young lives. The comprehensive roadmap was formally introduced during a high-profile press briefing held this month, bringing together national authorities, media representatives, technical partners and financial backers at N’Djamena’s prestigious Résidence Hotel.
The new initiative represents a 20% expansion over previous strategic cycles, signaling World Vision Tchad’s heightened commitment to addressing the nation’s most pressing challenges. At its core, the strategy integrates humanitarian aid, sustainable development and peacebuilding – a holistic approach known as the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This framework ensures that emergency interventions evolve into long-term solutions that empower communities to thrive.

Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director of World Vision for West Africa, emphasized the transformative potential of this vision during her keynote address. She described the plan as both audacious and innovative, rooted in the belief that every child in Chad deserves not just survival, but the opportunity to flourish. Denizard highlighted the critical role of strong partnerships, grassroots mobilization and the inclusion of local cultural and spiritual values in shaping effective interventions.
The strategy aligns closely with continental and global priorities, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 16) and Chad’s own Vision 2030. Key focus areas include human capital strengthening, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy enhancement through the Unlock Literacy program and comprehensive child protection measures.

With nearly 42% of Chad’s population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified, targeted action has never been more urgent.
To tackle these issues, the 2026-2030 strategy prioritizes four critical pillars:
- Integrated health and nutrition: Expanding maternal and child health services, particularly in underserved regions, to combat malnutrition and reduce preventable deaths.
- Education transformation: Scaling the Unlock Literacy program to improve early-grade reading skills, ensuring children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
- Child protection: Strengthening systems to shield children from violence, exploitation and abuse, while promoting their overall well-being.
- Climate resilience: Empowering communities with adaptive strategies to withstand environmental shocks, including droughts, floods and desertification.
