In Lake Province, where recent Boko Haram attacks have intensified pressure on local communities, women have taken a bold stand. Through the Provincial Women’s Network, they gathered in Baga-Sola on May 22 to voice unwavering support for national defense and security forces while urging collective resistance against the terrorist threat.
Strengthening solidarity against terror
The initiative was led by Ms. Achta Adoum Abdoulaye, President of the Provincial Women’s Network, who led a delegation to meet with General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, the Government Delegate to Lake Province, at the Baga-Sola headquarters. The core message was unequivocal: a renewed pledge of moral, logistical, and material backing for troops actively battling Boko Haram in the region.
Tribute to fallen heroes and resilience
On behalf of women across Lake Province, Ms. Achta Adoum Abdoulaye commended the relentless efforts of military and civilian authorities in safeguarding security and stability. She forcefully condemned recent attacks that resulted in the loss of lives among defense personnel and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the nation as a whole.
From words to action: a tangible show of support
To reinforce their pledge, the delegation presented a donation of food supplies to the frontline troops engaged in counterterrorism operations. The gesture underscores the community’s commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with security forces during these trying times.
Military leadership acknowledges women’s pivotal role
In response, General Saleh Haggar Tidjani praised the initiative as a powerful display of patriotism. He emphasized the indispensable role of women in fostering community resilience, social cohesion, and the fight against violent extremism, calling their contribution a cornerstone of national perseverance.
