The transfer narrative surrounding Yan Diomandé has intensified dramatically in recent hours. The highly sought-after Ivorian winger reportedly made his choice, opting to join Paris Saint-Germain. However, RB Leipzig appears to have a very different perspective on the matter.

Following an impressive start to the World Cup, mirroring his strong season with RB Leipzig, Yan Diomandé has become a prime target for top clubs. Despite being a priority for Liverpool, the talented Ivorian winger seemingly chose to align with PSG, bringing him closer to a potential move to the reigning double European champions. Nevertheless, Marcel Schäfer, the sporting director for the German club, is effectively cooling Parisian ambitions.
leipzig firmly rejects psg’s diomandé approach
“Our objective is crystal clear: Yan Diomandé will be playing for RB Leipzig next season. We will not waver on this! We are fully aware of his immense value. Of course, if Yan maintains this trajectory, the opportunity for him to take a significant step forward will arrive, but certainly not this year. Fundamentally, he is under a four-year contract, and we hold all the cards. The current interest, therefore, is primarily a testament to his outstanding performances. Nothing more, nothing less. And if we don’t find a solution that suits us, then so be it, but he still has four years remaining on his deal. I reiterate: Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player,” Schäfer asserted unequivocally in a recent interview.

For his part, Yan Diomandé adopted a far more elusive stance regarding his future during a press conference. “You are informing me. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. It’s my agent who is in discussions with the club; I have no information. I don’t want to discuss this, not even with my agent, because playing in a World Cup is a rare opportunity, it only comes every four years, so it must be savored. I want to make history with my country and give my absolute best. My dream is to represent my nation. I no longer use Instagram, nor TikTok. I see nothing. My agent will handle the rest. For me, the paramount focus is on the World Cup and making history,” he declared.
