Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) appears to be making swift progress in their pursuit of French midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, positioning him as a potential replacement for Lee Kang-In, who is edging closer to a move to Atlético Madrid. The capital club has reignited its interest in the 22-year-old, following a failed attempt last summer when Monaco demanded a hefty €70 million transfer fee—an amount that may now be significantly reduced.
With the summer transfer window approaching, PSG continues to focus on recruiting emerging French talent. Akliouche, an international midfielder, remains a top priority after Monaco’s stance softened considerably. The Monégasques, who had previously been reluctant to part ways with the young star, now face mounting pressure to sell, particularly with his contract expiring in 2028. While the exact revised figure remains undisclosed, reports suggest Monaco’s asking price will be far below the €70 million initially sought.
Akliouche remains focused on the World Cup before transfer talks
Despite the promising developments, Akliouche is setting his personal ambitions aside for now. In a recent interview, he emphasized his commitment to the French national team’s World Cup campaign, dismissing premature speculation about his future club. “Yes, a transfer this summer is possible, but I’m fully focused on the World Cup. It’s a massive opportunity for exposure, and I owe it to my current club and teammates to stay present,” he stated. “There’s a time for everything—now isn’t the moment for transfer discussions.”
