Following President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema’s recent State of the Nation address, Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou, president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and former Vice-President of the Republic, shared his perspective in an interview. He expressed his appreciation for a message that underscored action, accountability, and a shift in mindset. Maganga Moussavou interpreted the head of state’s remarks as a renewed commitment to the Gabonese populace, urging citizens to actively shape their destiny and reclaim control over the nation’s economic drivers.

Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou firmly believes this vision warrants strong backing, particularly concerning the opportunities it presents for young people. He commended the mechanisms established through the Bank for Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Gabon (BCEG), viewing them as crucial instruments for fostering private initiative and promoting economic self-sufficiency. Affirming his alignment with the President’s declarations, he voiced optimism that these announced commitments would translate into tangible actions benefiting all citizens.

A nuanced endorsement

Acknowledging the extensive challenges confronting the new administration, the PSD leader recognized the inherent complexity of the President’s mission given the high expectations of the Gabonese people. Nevertheless, he asserted that the reforms initiated since August 30, 2023, provide a solid foundation upon which the country can build a fresh momentum. He stressed that only through collective mobilization can Gabon overcome the economic, social, and institutional hurdles it faces.

Describing himself as a “lucid opponent,” Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou reiterated his readiness to support any endeavor that serves the broader national interest. “In his mission, he can count on me,” he declared, assuring his willingness to contribute his extensive experience to the nation’s development. He advocated for responsible cooperation, transcending political differences, to advance the country’s progress and fulfill the aspirations of the Gabonese population.
