Ousmane sonko warns pastef leaders: internal divisions are the greatest threat

During the inauguration of Pastef’s new headquarters in Mbacké, party president Ousmane Sonko delivered an impassioned plea for solidarity among his political officials. He cautioned them strongly against internal rivalries, which he believes could undermine the party’s momentum and effectiveness. Addressing the senior members of his movement directly, the Pastef leader underscored the critical importance of maintaining cohesion, asserting it is the sole guarantee for their upcoming political battles.

Sonko acknowledged that individual ambition is not inherently negative, but he warned that it becomes detrimental the moment it compromises the collective unity and operational efficiency of the party. Confident in Pastef’s broad popular appeal, Ousmane Sonko affirmed the party’s strength, citing the support of at least 70% of the population. He contended that Pastef has no formidable external adversaries to fear. For him, the primary risk emanates from within the party itself, hence his emphasis on the individual and collective responsibility of its leadership.

The President of the National Assembly urged officials to join forces and present a united front for future electoral challenges. He also issued a clear warning: should this unity falter, he would not hesitate to assume his responsibilities and make necessary decisions, a statement that suggests the possibility of sanctions or internal restructuring within the party.
