Ousmane Sonko honours religious leaders’ peacebuilding role in Senegal

The President of Senegal’s National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, concluded his courtesy visit to Touba by engaging with key religious leaders, reinforcing the vital link between faith and national unity.

During the day-long tour, Sonko met with Serigne Cheikh Say Mbacké, the Khalife of Serigne Souhaïbou Mbacké, followed by Serigne Cheikh Mbacké, the Khalife of Serigne Abdoul Khadre Mbacké, and finally Serigne Fallou Mbacké Ibn Serigne Souhaïbou Mbacké.

At each stop, Sonko underscored the indispensable role of religious authorities in fostering peace, stability, and social cohesion across Senegal. His remarks highlighted how spiritual guidance continues to shape the nation’s resilience amid evolving challenges.
