The opening ceremony of the Municipal Agency for Major Works (AMGT) strategic document validation workshop took place this Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Radisson Blu in N’Djamena. The event brought together directors, technical managers, municipal administration officials, and experts from the Center for Innovation and Development (CID).

Only one speech marked the ceremony, delivered by N’Djamena Mayor Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye. He reflected on the agency’s journey, recalling how the inaugural session of the AMGT Board of Directors, held months earlier, laid the groundwork for understanding the agency’s mission, vision, and challenges while fostering collaboration among board members.

The Mayor emphasized the AMGT’s core purpose: to enhance the Commune’s capacity to design, plan, fund, and implement key projects that meet community needs and align with N’Djamena’s development ambitions. “This agency was created to address critical challenges—urbanization pressures, population growth, infrastructure gaps, sanitation needs, and climate resilience,” he stated. “The AMGT will be central to delivering the infrastructure and facilities required for harmonious urban expansion.”

Encouraging active participation, Mayor Abdoulaye urged attendees to share insights, highlight concerns, and propose recommendations to refine the documents under review. He stressed that their contributions would strengthen the agency’s institutional foundations and ensure long-term operational effectiveness. However, he cautioned that success hinges on meticulous organization, robust mechanisms, transparent governance, and rigorous management procedures.

The documents under scrutiny include:

  • Administrative, financial, and accounting management manual: Designed to streamline resource management and track performance outcomes.
  • Monitoring and evaluation framework: Aimed at boosting efficiency and reinforcing accountability standards.
  • Environmental, social, and gender management framework: Ensuring sustainable development principles, social inclusion, equity, and environmental protection are embedded in all agency activities.
