The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to make waves in the summer transfer window with Gonçalo Ramos’s move to AC Milan now official. Meanwhile, another young talent could soon be leaving the Parc des Princes, as reports from Spanish media suggest Gabriel Moscardo is a prime candidate for a new loan deal at Espanyol Barcelona.
After joining PSG three years ago from Benfica Lisbon for a reported €20 million, Moscardo has faced challenges securing regular playing time. Loaned out first to Stade de Reims for the 2024-25 season and later to Braga, the 20-year-old midfielder has been gaining valuable experience abroad. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo now claims that an agreement for his temporary move to Espanyol Barcelona is highly likely, though no official announcement has been made.
Moscardo’s PSG future hangs in the balance
Despite expressing his desire to stay at PSG just a few months ago, Moscardo’s path to first-team football at the club remains uncertain. In April, he stated through his agent that discussions about his future would resume after the season concluded. His remarks highlighted a strong attachment to the club: «I haven’t discussed next season yet. My agent, in coordination with PSG’s leadership, will decide what’s best for me. We’ll talk again after the season. Of course, I want to stay at PSG. I need to prepare for pre-season there—it’s where I belong and where I need to be. I’ll get more playing time. I’m progressing well, and this season at Braga has given me crucial experience. If it’s meant to be, I’ll play a full season at PSG and prove I’m capable.»
The potential move to Espanyol Barcelona could provide Moscardo with the competitive minutes he seeks, though it remains to be seen whether PSG will retain his services in the long term. With the summer transfer window still open, the midfielder’s fate will likely become clearer in the coming weeks.
