Morocco joins international stabilization force in Gaza with new agreement
Rabat — The Kingdom of Morocco has officially signed the framework agreement for its participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, reaffirming its commitment to global peace and security under the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Signed in the capital city, the agreement was formalized during a high-level meeting led by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi. The ceremony was attended by senior military officials, alongside a delegation headed by Nickolay Mladenov, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Gaza.
Humanitarian and security mission in Gaza
According to a statement from the National Defense Administration, this participation underscores Morocco’s role as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, aligning with the royal vision outlined during the council’s inaugural gathering in Washington.
Moroccan authorities emphasized the Kingdom’s unwavering dedication to international peace, cooperation, and solidarity. They highlighted the Royal Armed Forces’ (FAR) proven track record in United Nations-led peacekeeping operations and Morocco’s long-standing efforts to promote regional and global stability.
The Gaza Peace Council representatives commended Morocco’s contributions, which include:
- Deploying senior FAR officers to the ISF joint command;
- Involving personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN);
- Establishing a mobile military field hospital.
The signed accord provides the legal foundation for the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s involvement. It reflects a shared resolve to restore peace and security in Gaza through humanitarian and security initiatives.
