The 2026-2027 coffee and cocoa season in Côte d’Ivoire officially kicks off on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, aligning with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC). The event, scheduled at the Abidjan Exhibition Park, will unveil the new bord champ prices—key benchmarks for farmers.
The announcement of these prices will be made by Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, representing President Alassane Ouattara. This follows the record-high bord champ price of 2,800 FCFA per kilogram set for the 2025-2026 main season (October 2025 to February 2026). For the intermediate season (March to August 2026), the price was adjusted downward to 1,200 FCFA per kilogram due to a dip in global cocoa market prices.
As the world’s leading cocoa producer, accounting for roughly 40% of global supply, Côte d’Ivoire produced nearly 2.2 million tonnes during the 2025-2026 campaign. This season was characterized by volatile export trends and state interventions, including the repurchase of approximately 123,000 tonnes of residual beans amid temporary global market slowdowns.
Looking ahead to 2026-2027, production forecasts suggest potential challenges due to climate variability and aging cocoa orchards. Market analysts project a possible decline in output, with estimates pointing to around 1.8 million tonnes.
JNCC 2026: a platform for dialogue and industry growth
The 10th edition of the JNCC, running from September 1 to 3, serves as a pivotal gathering for stakeholders across the coffee and cocoa value chain. It provides a space for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of best practices among institutional, economic, and professional actors.
This milestone edition will feature a rich program, including conferences, panel discussions, exhibitions, business networking sessions, and innovation showcases. The goal is to reinforce the JNCC’s role as a leading forum for constructive dialogue, sustainable development, and enhanced competitiveness within Côte d’Ivoire’s coffee and cocoa sector.
The event will also highlight the progress made over the past decade, celebrate achievements, and chart a forward-looking agenda to bolster the industry’s resilience and sustainability.
