Massive supply convoy reaches Bamako under Malian military protection

A major logistics operation concluded successfully as a massive fleet of 940 civilian transport vehicles reached Bamako. Between June 23 and June 29, the Malian military provided a secure escort along the vital transit route spanning Kaïs, Sandari, and Diéma to ensure the safe delivery of essential goods to the capital city.

The mission began with an initial group of 540 trucks traveling from Kaïs to Sandari. During the journey, a secondary military unit arriving from Diéma reinforced the operation. Along the way, several vehicles that had been stranded on the road were integrated into the procession, bringing the final count to 940 trucks before the convoy completed its final leg toward Bamako.

This large-scale movement across the strategic corridor was completed without any significant security incidents. The fleet traversed multiple urban centers along the route, maintaining a steady pace to reach its destination.

The deployment of military protection for these commercial vehicles comes at a critical time. Security conditions on various regional roads have become increasingly complex, while Bamako has faced persistent challenges regarding the steady supply of fuel and other resources.

The road connecting Kayes to Bamako serves as a lifeline for the nation, linking the capital to western regions and providing essential access points to Sénégal and Mauritanie. This corridor is indispensable for the transport of petroleum products, food supplies, industrial equipment, and various consumer goods destined for local markets.
