Togo’s Prime Minister and African Union mediator Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé received Democratic Republic of Congo’s Regional Integration Minister Floribert Anzuluni in Lomé on Tuesday to discuss eastern DRC security challenges and mediation efforts.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Kinshasa and Lomé while addressing security concerns in eastern DRC, where the M23 rebellion continues operations despite regional peace initiatives.
The Congolese envoy thanked the Togolese leader for his personal commitment to finding a sustainable solution to the Great Lakes region’s ongoing conflicts.
Anzuluni had previously visited Uganda carrying a message from President Félix Tshisekedi to President Yoweri Museveni, as diplomatic efforts intensify amid persistent hostilities in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces.
