Banjul welcomed a distinguished guest yesterday as Gabon’s President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema arrived in the Gambian capital for a four-day working and friendship visit. The visit, marked by warm hospitality, began with a private meeting between President Oligui Nguema and his Gambian counterpart, Adama Barrow. This was followed by bilateral discussions at the official residence, where both leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation and explored fresh avenues for collaboration to strengthen ties between Gabon and Gambia.

The visit is designed to bolster the Libreville-Banjul axis, symbolizing the strengthening partnership between the two nations. As part of the agenda, President Oligui Nguema will tour key government facilities and historical landmarks. Among the sites on his itinerary are the National Food and Drug Quality Control Laboratory in Brusubi, the University of Gambia, the National Emergency Treatment Center in Farato, and the Kachikally Crocodile Pool in Bakau—each representing a pillar of Gambia’s infrastructure and cultural heritage.
