Gabonese leaders champion public-private dialogue for economic transformation

My aspiration is for the FEG to be recognized not only for advocating on behalf of businesses but, more importantly, for ensuring their success.

This powerful statement was delivered by Alain Claude Kouakoua, President of the Federation of Gabonese Enterprises (FEG), as he inaugurated the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the esteemed Palais des Congrès.

This crucial gathering serves as a vital platform, bringing together key decision-makers and international partners to strategically address Gabon’s prevailing economic challenges.

Emphasizing a pragmatic approach, the FEG President underscored that no nation has achieved significant development without the bedrock of robust enterprises. He firmly asserted that businesses are not merely peripheral players but rather the indispensable engine driving economic progress.

Echoing this sentiment, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, the Vice-President of the Republic, highlighted the State’s steadfast commitment and support for the private sector. He affirmed, “The State will fulfill its responsibilities to ensure that the ongoing public finance cleanup facilitates the timely settlement of obligations owed to private companies.

This compelling address articulated a profound national ambition: to cultivate a diversified economy, reducing its reliance on raw materials and increasingly orienting itself towards industrialization.

Thus, this forum symbolizes a robust dialogue, essential for effectively navigating Gabon’s economic imperatives and achieving its ambitious national objectives.
