French-Morocco ties celebrated in Rabat during bastille day event

At the heart of Rabat, the French Residency transformed into a vibrant hub of diplomacy and celebration on the evening of July 14, 2026, as over 1,500 guests gathered to mark French National Day. The event, graced by the presence of prominent Moroccan officials and international diplomats, underscored the strengthening bonds between France and Morocco.

Philippe Lalliot, France’s ambassador to Morocco, and his wife Laurence Folliot Lalliot warmly welcomed the attendees, setting the stage for an evening dedicated to reaffirming a partnership described as both balanced and forward-looking.

In his address, Ambassador Lalliot emphasized the depth of the renewed Franco-Moroccan alliance, stating, “This is a partnership that is balanced, serves our mutual interests, and is modernized for the challenges of today and tomorrow. In one word, a partnership refounded to address the critical issues we face and anticipate those on the horizon.”

Highlighting the human dimension of this relationship, he remarked, “This friendship is an inheritance we all share. It is our duty to nurture it, cultivate it, and help it flourish.”

Morocco’s vision for progress

Reflecting on his experiences across the Kingdom, Lalliot praised Morocco’s proactive approach to development. “From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune, where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française in the city, the conversation isn’t just about the future—it is actively being built, day by day,” he noted.
