Strengthened partnership between Morocco and France highlighted in Rabat

The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a gathering in Rabat on July 14 to celebrate France‘s national holiday, uniting over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot emphasized the deepening bilateral cooperation, shaping a shared future between the two nations.

«From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—our focus isn’t just on tomorrow; it’s on building it, day by day,» Lalliot remarked in the presence of Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada.

The ambassador spotlighted the breadth of MoroccoFrance collaboration, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI. In it, France reaffirmed its stance that the future of the Sahara falls under Morocco’s sovereignty. «Together, our diplomacies champion the core principles of international order and multilateral institutions,» Lalliot stated.

He also noted that France remains the leading foreign investor and employer in Morocco, with French businesses playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, Lalliot outlined key areas of partnership, including «addressing global challenges collaboratively, strengthening security, and aligning on sectors that will shape our economies tomorrow.» He further stressed the importance of fostering friendship and mutual understanding, particularly among the younger generations who embody the future of Franco-Moroccan ties.

The ambassador concluded by celebrating the «enduring human bond» between the peoples of France and Morocco, underscoring the vibrant contributions of their diasporas.
