In a significant legal development, the Collectif des descendants de Serigne Touba has formally lodged a complaint against political figure Ousmane Sonko, alleging the dissemination of false information and defamation. The legal team representing the plaintiffs includes Me Aboubacry Barro, a prominent attorney in the case.
The lawsuit stems from recent remarks attributed to Sonko, in which he publicly claimed that “recently, funds have been diverted to Touba, using public money that was stolen.”
He further asserted that this financial flow “is not intended for political purposes,” suggesting instead that it is being used to “meet political demands.”
This legal action underscores the growing tensions surrounding financial transparency and political accountability in the region.
