Rabat hosts Morocco-India economic forum 2026

The Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026 took place in Rabat, bringing together high-level delegations from both nations to strengthen economic ties and explore new investment opportunities.

The event was organized by the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Morocco and the Confederation of Indian Industry. It featured prominent Indian business leaders alongside Moroccan counterparts from key economic sectors.

Long-standing partnership drives economic collaboration

Hassan Sakhi, President of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra Chamber, highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Morocco and India that has evolved into a robust and growing economic partnership. He noted that high-level ministerial initiatives and bilateral agreements in strategic sectors underscore the strength of political relations between the two countries.

Sakhi emphasized that the participation of Indian business leaders from sectors such as automotive, agriculture, IT, healthcare and energy reflects the growing interest of Indian investors in the Moroccan market. He also pointed to the strong bilateral trade volumes as evidence of this momentum, adding that India’s technological and industrial expertise makes it a key commercial partner for Morocco.

Opportunities in renewable energy and digital technology

Mohan Puri, head of the Indian delegation, stressed the potential for a tripartite partnership involving Morocco, India and Africa. He highlighted Morocco’s strategic advantages in renewable energy, green hydrogen, aviation, defense and digital technologies, describing the country as an ideal platform for joint ventures and technological innovation.

The forum included the screening of institutional videos showcasing the economic strengths of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region, as well as a documentary on the business climate and investment opportunities in Morocco. A memorandum of understanding was signed to enhance trade, investment and industrial partnerships between India and the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region.

The event concluded with networking sessions and business-to-business meetings, fostering direct connections between Moroccan and Indian enterprises.
