Chad and Libya advance direct air route between N’Djamena and Benghazi
Diplomatic and economic ties between Chad and Libya are set to deepen as plans for a direct flight connection between N’Djamena and Benghazi take shape, signaling stronger regional collaboration.
On July 13, 2026, Libya’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Houij hosted Chad’s Consul General Mr. Hassan Ahmat Daissire, accompanied by Consular Attaché Mr. Aboubakar Sidick Mahamat Abagana, in Benghazi. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation across consular services, trade, transportation, and communications.
A key highlight was the proposal to establish a direct air link between N’Djamena and Benghazi, aimed at enhancing mobility and fostering deeper economic exchanges. The voluntary repatriation program for Chadian nationals was also discussed, with coordination between Libyan authorities, Chadian officials, and international organizations to ensure smooth implementation.
Reaffirming their commitment to mutual progress, the two nations underscored the enduring historical and fraternal bonds that define Chad-Libya relations, paving the way for renewed collaboration in the Sahel region.
