At least eight people were killed and one injured in a pre-dawn raid by suspected Boko Haram fighters in northern Cameroon, local authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The assault unfolded around 11:00 PM Friday in Kangaleri village, within the Mayo-Sava department, leaving the community in shock. Six victims died instantly, while three others sustained severe injuries and were rushed for emergency care. Two later succumbed to their wounds, bringing the provisional death toll to eight. One injured survivor remained under medical supervision on Saturday, according to local reports.
As is typical of these attacks, the assailants struck under the cover of darkness before vanishing into the night. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the assault and identify the victims.

Hours earlier, a separate Boko Haram-linked attack was reported in Tourou, a town in the Mokolo district near the Nigerian border. Witnesses described how the militants looted livestock and goods before destroying a local market close to the town center. No casualties have been reported in this second incident.
