The renowned Cameroonian philosopher, Achille Mbembe, asserts that genuine democracy has yet to take root across the African continent. In a recent exclusive interview, Mbembe offered an uncompromising analysis, delving into various widely held perceptions about Africa, from the nature of its political systems and the Franc CFA to the unique challenges of Central African regimes and the ongoing debate surrounding reparations for the slave trade.

During the third African Democracy Summit held in Dakar, Professor Achille Mbembe, a distinguished historian, philosopher, and research scholar, shared his insights.

As president of the Foundation for Innovation for Democracy, Mbembe presented a critical assessment of democratic experiments throughout Africa. Challenging the common narrative that the continent is experiencing a crisis of democracy, he contends that in most African nations, true democratic principles have never been properly established.
