In a strategic move to bolster its presence across Morocco, Uber has officially launched its ride-hailing services in Agadir and Tangier. This expansion is designed to support the nation’s booming tourism sector and complements existing operations in Casablanca and Rabat. As the country prepares for the 2030 World Cup, the arrival of these services highlights Morocco‘s status as a premier global destination.
With an ambitious target of attracting 26 million annual visitors by 2030, the introduction of reliable transportation is a key component of the traveler experience. The service aims to provide seamless mobility, ensuring that tourists can easily navigate between hotels, landmarks, and city centers with confidence and ease.
Enhanced mobility for growing demand
By establishing a presence in Agadir and Tangier, the platform addresses a rising need for dependable transit solutions. Commuters and travelers in these coastal hubs can now access the mobile application to book rides. Both UberX and UberXL options are available, mirroring the service standards already established in the kingdom’s larger metropolitan areas.
The timing of this expansion aligns with impressive growth in the local travel industry. Morocco saw a record-breaking 19.8 million tourists in 2025, representing a 14% increase from the previous year. This surge generated approximately 124 billion dirhams in revenue through November of that year. The momentum has continued into 2026, with 4.3 million visitors recorded in the first quarter alone, marking a 7% rise compared to the same period in the prior year.
